When it comes to floral arrangements for the wedding, all careful thought-out plans are often focused on the bride and her bridesmaids’ bouquet designs and delicate arrangements. Though the groom and his male attendants are often excluded in the complex planning of the wedding, they are not excluded from touching as many as a one to two silk flowers or a bud to be placed on the lapel hole for decoration purposes.

A boutonniere is a floral decoration worn by men typically a single flower or bud. They are often a nice touch and a nod to the lovely bridesmaids’’ corsages as they are usually designed to match with the bride and her bridesmaids’ floral designs and dresses. White carnations are used for which is most typical of formal white wedding, while red belongs to the classic alternative side.

A good quality wedding boutonnieres can make a big difference to the appearance of the male members of the wedding party. With silk flowers, it is a guarantee that the small floral decoration for the groom and his groomsmen will always look fresh all day or night long. Although it is a floral design that uses as minimum as one small flower, there are many little ways that you can indulge to give the chic look or classy finish to your boutonnieres. Creative use of foliage, wires and beads can add a unique look to the simple silk boutonniere.

The color of the wedding boutonnieres must be chosen to either contrast or complement the groom and his groomsmen attires. A black suit with a burgundy cravat (neckband) can be matched with a burgundy boutonniere made from a tulip, calla lily or a rose of a complementing color. If your wedding theme is not so crazy about the use of flowers, smaller silk blooms can be used to create a tone-down boutonniere with the use of foliage, thistle or even herbs like rosemary.

The boutonniere should always be worn on the outside of the buttonhole of the left lapel and not in it. To secure it, a pearl-headed pin is used from the back of the lapel so that it won’t be visible from the front. You can be creative with this tiny detail. If you want to show off a decorative pin, then you may use a gold or white gold metal pin that you can use to pin the boutonniere from the front.

Even if all eyes are going to be centered on the bridal bouquet, there is no excuse not to let your groom and his important groomsmen to feel especially distinctive and unique with a chic silk boutonniere that adds up to the whole wonderful joyous celebration of love.
